Cloud migration fails when it's treated as one giant switch-over. It succeeds when it's a sequence of small, reversible steps — each delivering value on its own.
The five-step path we use
- Assess: map what you run, what it costs, and what depends on what
- Prioritise: move the low-risk, high-friction workloads first
- Lift & optimise: migrate, then right-size — don't pay for idle capacity
- Modernise selectively: containerise or re-architect only where it pays back
- Operate: monitoring, backups and disaster recovery from day one
The biggest savings usually aren't from the move itself — they're from right-sizing afterwards and turning off things nobody was using. Most teams over-provision "just in case" and pay for it every month.
Don't migrate a mess
If a workload is broken on-prem, it'll be broken (and metered) in the cloud. Fix or retire it first. A managed migration with clear RPO/RTO targets means you always have a safe rollback if a step doesn't behave.
